Trigger Point Workshop
I was in a fantastic workshop this weekend, learning advanced trigger point therapy techniques. The techniques included massage therapy, ischemic compression, heat and range of motion/stretching. It was a great course, and I learned so much! It was also the perfect weekend to be in class, as it was a stormy one! Gusting winds and driving rain - I was sooo happy to be inside!
The class focussed on releasing trigger points in the upper body, including the arms and hands. I can’t believe how many muscles in the head and neck can give problems with headaches, vertigo, ringing in the ears, and even nausea!
I also realized how important it is to release trigger points in tendons and scar tissue!
Pain and dysfunciton associated with trigger points is also know as myofascial pain syndrome (it goes by many other names as well), and it affects millions of people every day.
I just sent an article out to my email list on the topic, and if you would like to know a little bit more about trigger points, I have posted it on my other blog at http://www.simplehealthideas.blogspot.com.
I had better run - need to get to work and try out the new techniques!
